Low Country Risk
A Solid And Sustainable Investment Grade Rating
Estonia is one of the few countries to experience an improved credit rating in recent years and is currently rated AA- by S&P, A1 by Moody’s and A+ by Fitch. This solid investment grade rating is underpinned by a strong fiscal position, Estonia having the lowest Sovereign Debt: GDP in the EU as at 31.12.2012 at just 10.1%; a growing economy and the government’s commitment to pursue balanced budgets.
Estonia also benefits from strong institutions, having navigated the financial crisis with no failures and met the criteria for EURO adoption in 2011. Strong institutions are supported by the rule of law, integrated financial supervision with the Nordic region and membership of key organisations such as the EU, EEA, OECD, UN, NATO, etc.
